The “Need” to be in Control

Hey! I know it has been a while and I am going to make an attempt to do better in writing these blogs!

BUT…. let us take a moment and talk about the word control.

/kənˈtrōl/ Control-the power to influence or direct people’s behavior or the course of events

A lot of us suffer from this “need!” We feel as if we need to control:

environments

people

situations

and if we control those things we feel as if we can also control the outcome or the narrative of our lives.

For example, if we can control any of the things listed above we think we can control what happens during the course of them.

Okay. wait let me make it clear…

If we can control our environment we can control what happens while we are in them

If we can control people we can control how they make us feel according to how we control their actions

If we can control situations we can control how they play out

The need to be in control derives from fear!

Fear of:

Change!

Rejection!

Hurt!

Fear then causes trust issues (but that is a whole other blog post)

When we try to be in control we leave no space for God to be in control!

When we try to be in control we are indeed trying to manipulate results!! (witchcraft?)

we have to be careful….

The Bible teaches us that

dominions belong to the Lord and he rules over all nations

our lives our not our own

God is before all things and IN HIM all things hold together

So with that being said…

LET GO OF THE NEED TO BE IN CONTROL!!

You are in God’s way, you keep trying to change the end of your narrative but God is saying it has to happen and there is no other way around what he has already set up for you. You are making it worse and delaying the time all because you will not allow God to be in control over what he created anyways! The change, rejection, and the hurt have to happen but if you stop trying to control it from happening, then fear, anxiety, depression, and frustration will not reside because you know God is in control.

When you allow God to be in control:

His presence is with you and he will give you rest

You will not fear

You trust with your whole heart and lean not on your own understanding

You submit to him

You understand his plan is to give you a future and a hope

You cannot manipulate your way out of what God intended for you. God does everything for purpose and his glory! Even the change, rejection, and fear.
