Control Your Tongue

Are you the person that has to say the first thing that comes to mind?

Always wanting to prove your point, and or tell people off?

Or how about just speaking negative about a situation you wish to change? Or a person?

the tongue is a restless evil and full of poison with it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God.

James 3:8-9 (NASB)

This is not the way to be or become. In life our storms can cause a mood disorder. One minute we are happy and blessing the Lord, then the next we are cursing one another. When the storms of life hit, we tend to speak negative and then we doubt in our mind. Had we spoke positive things, we would have kept the faith and not doubted. We must learn that God has to be in control of our tongues at all times, not just when things are going as we planned. What we speak to one another and over ourselves has a great impact on our lives.

The tongue defiles the entire body

James 3:6 (NASB)

To be defiled means to be corrupt, to destroy the temple of God, which the temple of God is our bodies.

We must understand clearly that we have to change the way we are talking, not only to ourselves but also to and about others. A lot of us are destroying every good thing inside of us because we are not being careful in what we say. Do not allow the storms of life delay you from the promises of God, by not being able to control your tongue. When you go before God, ask for control over what you say. If you can keep your tongue together, you can control the whole body. That speaks volumes alone. I read somewhere that God wants us to master how to be silent in a frustrated season. The less you say (negative) the more he moves.

For we stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well

James 3:2 (NASB)
