Life After A Tragedy

trag-e-dy ; an event causing great suffering, destruction, and distress

Have you ever experienced a life-changing tragedy?

Are you still experiencing the effects of the tragedy?

Life after a tragedy can be hard. You begin to have many thoughts about how you could have changed what has happened. You replay in your mind all the different outcomes had you’d been there, paid more attention, or simply had the conversation. Depression starts to settle, and then you find yourself drowning in your sorrow and what-ifs. Life as we know it feels as if it will never be the same.

But this cannot be the “new life”; we have to come to the understanding that everything serves as a purpose under God. Often we talk very confident and full of knowledge until our faith is PERSONALLY tested. We become the spokesperson for overcoming obstacles until we have to navigate through one of our worst. Something we never imagined, implausible.

Have we been living a lie?

Do we not practice what we preach?

How can speak life into others but not ourselves?

What helps me recover from a tragic situation is realizing that God has to get the glory out of every kind or bad thing. So when faced with the harsh reality, I understand that there is a bigger purpose that will be birthed out of the tragic loss. There are plenty of new opportunities and blessings stored up, but if we give up due to our devastation, we will never receive it. Even after a tragedy, your labor is not complete because you are still alive. Tell yourself I have work to do!

Take some time and heal, but be sure not to stay there too long. Re-evaluate your purpose, your mission, and your plan. Dig deeper into your goals. Most of the vital lessons we learn through our life tragedies.

I encourage you to live again. Someone needs you to launch your business, hear your voice, and see you succeed in life after a tragedy.

For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you future and a hope.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NASB)
